Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Houston, TX seeks a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a driver count and non-traditional shifts while ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and exceptional customer service.

You will train to comply with DOT regulations, oversee driver compliance, and collaborate with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads across accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, or GED with 1 year of related experience.
• Willing to travel to account locations and relocate regionally as needed.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and safe, reliable outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to train drivers and staff on systems and procedures and orientation.
• Develop KPIs and customer-specific reporting and financial analysis for presentations at customer locations.
• Gain knowledge to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignment to balance equipment.
• Assist payroll, budget, invoicing, and financial reporting tasks as they arise.
• Coordinate with maintenance for equipment checks and safety-related issues.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements.
