Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. in Haslet, TX is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, ensuring safe, timely freight movement and best-in-class customer service.

You will be trained to ensure DOT compliance, manage payroll and budgets, and coordinate with drivers, customers, and internal teams to optimize routing, load planning, and fleet profitability. This is a growth-oriented role with exposure to operations leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field or a HS diploma with 1 year of related experience.
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate based on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and carriers to optimize onboarding and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and assist with projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Train drivers and staff on internal and customer systems and processes.
• Analyze KPIs and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, and incident reviews.
• Ensure routine maintenance scheduling and safety-related repairs are completed.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service, routing, and pay issues.
• Support safety culture through driver safety messages and trainings.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements.
