Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or related discipline.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Python 3.x, REST API development, microservices, asynchronous processing, event-driven architecture, and distributed design.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes—preferably AKS—Azure Container Apps, Linux environments, Git or GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Apache Airflow or equivalent orchestration platform.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server, and proficiency with JavaScript/React.

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end applications using Python 3.x backend services, RESTful APIs, SQL databases, and React/JS integration layers.
• Develop modular microservices and distributed processing systems with event-driven architecture and queues.
• Engineer reliable large-file and long-running processing workflows with streaming, retries, and idempotency.
• Containerize and deploy applications using Docker, AKS, and Azure Container Apps with scalable deployments.
• Build observable, scalable workflows using Airflow and Azure Service Bus for queues.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with production-grade logging, monitoring, and diagnostics.

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Full Stack Python Engineer for an innovative organization modernizing its business-critical enterprise technology environment. This is a four-month contract-to-hire position working onsite in Addison, Texas , with an immediate start anticipated.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Full Stack Python Engineer will design and build complete cloud-native applications spanning Python backend services, REST APIs, distributed processing workflows, databases, and supporting frontend integrations. This hands‑on software engineering role will translate business requirements into scalable, resilient, and production-ready systems within an Azure-hosted, container-first environment. The ideal candidate brings deep distributed systems knowledge and designs applications for reliability, scalability, fault isolation, recoverability, observability, and long-term maintainability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and build end-to-end applications using Python 3.x backend services, RESTful APIs, SQL databases, and supporting React or JavaScript integration layers.
• Develop modular microservices and distributed processing systems using event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, queues, workers, and API-first design.
• Engineer reliable large-file and long-running processing workflows using streaming or chunking, checkpointing, retries, idempotency, failure isolation, and resumable processing.
• Containerize and deploy applications using Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service, and Azure Container Apps, supporting horizontal scaling, rolling and versioned deployments, and fault-tolerant runtime behaviour.
• Build observable, scalable, and recoverable workflows using Apache Airflow or comparable orchestration tools, along with Azure Service Bus and queue-based processing technologies.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and production‑grade logging, monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics using tools such as Azure Monitor and Application Insights.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience building full-stack, platform-grade, or high-scale enterprise software systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will also be considered.
• Advanced hands‑on experience with Python 3.x, REST API development, microservices, asynchronous processing, event-driven architecture, and distributed application design.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes—preferably AKS—Azure Container Apps, Linux environments, Git or GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Apache Airflow or an equivalent orchestration platform and developing scalable queue-, worker-, or event-based distributed processing workflows.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server, plus integration‑level proficiency with JavaScript, React, or a comparable frontend framework.
• Experience designing observable and recoverable cloud systems using Azure technologies such as Service Bus, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights; experience with Redis, Solr or similar search platforms, Java/JVM services, or high-scale enterprise applications is beneficial.

COMPENSATION

This position offers competitive compensation up to $150k/yr (DOE) along with medical, dental and vision offerings during the contract and then the clients full benefits available upon conversion to permanent employment.
