Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success and improve attendance. You will partner with teachers to support in-class instruction and targeted student assistance across multiple grade levels.

The role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training, ongoing collaboration with school staff, and participation in community-building activities that recognize student growth.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Age 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma (or higher).
• Able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.
• Willing to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math activities at varying levels.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress.
• Contribute to extended day and after-school programs.
• Help plan engaging classroom activities and student clubs.
