Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada, Inc. is seeking a full-time support staff member at the Mather Community Campus to assist residents with daily living, safety, and progress toward self-sufficiency.

The role includes explaining program rules, coordinating meals and routines, and providing awake shift coverage across day and night shifts. You will also support client development, maintain records, and collaborate with staff and external agencies.

Qualifications

• CPR/First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Valid California driver’s license required.
• Must be able to work irregular hours and function as a team member.
• Computer skills required and ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules and supervise residents’ daily compliance.
• Coordinate meals, bed assignments, showers, laundry, and daily routines.
• Provide awake shift coverage and conduct hourly safety checks.
• De-escalate crises and provide emergency assistance as needed.
• Maintain daily reports and shift logs; document incidents.
• Perform housekeeping and maintain cleanliness and supplies.
• Respond to client questions and concerns.
• Carry out clerical duties on shift (phone, messages).
• Communicate with staff, service providers, and external agencies.
• Assist in training new staff and program development.
