Job summary

Walgett Community College–High School is seeking a qualified school counsellor to provide counselling and psychological assessment for students within the NSW public education system. The role offers opportunities to work across the lifespan with students and engage with diverse school communities.

The successful candidate will be based at Walgett Community College–High School, receive regular supervision, and benefit from professional development and a recruitment incentive of $20,000.

Qualifications

• Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions.
• Experience in psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
• Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes.
• Be a registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Ability and willingness to travel between worksites. Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s licence.
• This position requires teaching approval or eligibility to apply for approval to teach.

Responsibilities

• Counselling and psychological assessment of students to support learning and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with teachers, families and external agencies to support student outcomes.
• Provide supervision and professional development within the school counselling service.
• Work across Walgett Community College–High School and with a range of school communities to support students.
