Job summary

Advocate Health's IL ACL Laboratories - Good Samaritan site seeks a dedicated phlebotomist for a full-time day shift starting between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.

You will perform venipuncture, collect specimens from newborn to adult patients, and verify positive patient identification to ensure safety. The role requires accurate labeling, timely documentation for quality assurance, and effective communication with physicians, patients, and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year phlebotomy experience, preferred.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Obtains specimens according to priority and scheduled draw times.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
• Documents information for quality assurance/improvement.
• Responds to specimen procurement requests via pager or other means.
