Job summary

Advocate Health in Park Ridge, IL, seeks a part-time Phlebotomist to join the ACL Laboratories Lutheran team. Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen collection, patient identification, and accurate labeling with proper handling of specimens.

Requires a high school diploma; 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred. Schedule is 20 hours per week, day shift 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays. Pay range is $18.85–$28.30 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; good listening.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
• Customer service skills to interface with physicians, patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identification and ensures safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from all ages.
• Ensures proper labeling and specimen integrity.
• Responds to calls, assists with inventory and supplies.
• Accepts specimens from various customers and clarifies requests.
• Orders and verifies test requests; documents information for QA.
• Reviews reports and distributes results as needed.
• Supports Billing and other business functions.
• Instructs staff and students in phlebotomy and data entry.
• Demonstrates care appropriate to patient age groups.
