Job summary

Westside Federation of Senior & Supportive Housing in New York, NY is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support meal distribution, service and clean-up for residents. The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness and teamwork with the kitchen staff.

The ideal candidate has 6 months in a kitchen support role, a valid NYC Food Handler certification, and a commitment to preparing nutritious meals for residents. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, or 4 years of relevant kitchen experience.
• At least 6 months of Kitchen Assistant or Dishwasher experience.
• Proven cooking experience in a commercial kitchen serving 20+ people.
• Active food handler certification from the City of New York.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain food service areas, equipment, storage and dining areas.
• Dishwashing, pot washing and other cleaning duties as assigned.
• Assist with meal distribution and setup; follow NYC food safety procedures.
• Accept and store food deliveries per NYC health regulations.
• Label, date and rotate stock.
