Job summary

The West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) is seeking a Cook I to join our on-site kitchen team in New York, NY. You will be responsible for preparing, serving, and cleaning up meals for residents under the supervision of the Food Service Manager.

Responsibilities include following standardized recipes, documenting temperatures, and ensuring proper portioning and food safety. This full-time role requires attention to detail and collaboration with staff to support

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 months as Kitchen Assistant or Dishwasher.
• Experience in kitchens serving twenty persons or more.
• Active food handler’s certification from the City of New York.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, serve, and clean up meals following standardized recipes.
• Document temperatures of food, freezer, and refrigerators.
• Follow portion and serving guidelines set by the Food Service Manager.
• Assist in accepting deliveries and storage per NYC DOH regulations.
• Distribute meals safely to residents with approved temperatures and standards.
• Keep work area, equipment, kitchen, storage, and dining areas clean.
• Adhere to NYC DOH and MGH food safety procedures.
• Meet with supervisors regularly to discuss food service.
• Monitor dining room during meals and assist as needed.
