Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford in Glastonbury, CT is seeking a Two's Full Time Assistant Teacher to support Infant & Toddler classrooms under supervision. The role involves assisting in daily supervision, curriculum implementation, and maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of early childhood development, a warm, nurturing demeanor, and may be bilingual (Spanish/English). Two years of experience is strongly preferred for this full-time position.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of infant and toddler development and early learning standards.
• Warm, nurturing personality and ability to work with diverse families.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
• Minimum two years of early childhood experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in daily classroom supervision, including outdoor play.
• Promote inclusive, anti-racist practices and a respectful culture.
• Assist in creating and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculums and forms.
• Use knowledge of child development to plan for individual children.
• Supervise parents and classroom visitors.
• Assist in safety drills and emergency procedures.
• Prepare materials, attendance and CACFP/USDA reports.
• Follow food handling, sanitation, and OSHA procedures.
• Maintain an Anecdotal Log for each child.
• Keep classroom materials organized and stored safely.
• Uphold YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
• Maintain confidentiality of child and family information.
• Supervise a group of children.
• Ensure center policies and state regulations are followed.
• Perform other duties as required.
