Job summary

YMCA in Glastonbury, CT seeks a Two's Full Time Assistant Teacher to support infant and toddler care. Salary is $16.94–$17.48 hourly, with full-time status.

Reports to the Child Development Director or Childcare Coordinator; strong teamwork and safety focus are essential. Responsibilities include supervising in class and outdoors, developing developmentally appropriate activities, maintaining records, and upholding YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of infant and toddler development and state standards.
• Warm and nurturing personality.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
• Access to PHI as required.
• Ability to work in preschool classroom.
• Minimum of two years of early childhood experience preferred.
• Compliance with licensing and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in daily classroom supervision and outdoor play using positive discipline.
• Promote inclusivity and anti-racist practices within the YMCA.
• Help create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculums.
• Assess and plan for individual children using child development knowledge.
• Supervise parents and other classroom visitors.
• Assist with drills and emergency preparedness.
• Prepare materials and maintain attendance and reports (CACFP/USDA).
• Follow food handling, sanitation, and OSHA procedures.
• Maintain Anecdotal Log for each child.
• Keep classroom and storage neat and safe.
• Uphold YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring.
• Maintain confidentiality of child and family information.
• Supervise a group of children.
• Follow center policies, state regulations and NAEYC standards.
• Perform other duties as required.
