Job summary

Goodwin University in East Hartford, CT, seeks a Welding Instructor to join its Manufacturing Program and prepare the next generation of skilled welders. The role requires hands-on welding expertise and the ability to develop curriculum and assess student performance.

We value 5+ years of welding experience, teaching or supervisory background, and strong teamwork with students and staff. This is a full-time, on-site position with growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in subject area preferred; BA with 5+ years industry teaching/training acceptable.
  • Minimum 5 years welding experience in industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot welding equipment.
  • Familiar with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Develop relevant welding curriculum and teach/evaluate student performance.
  • Deliver classes including early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
  • Engage in professional development and stay current with welding tech.
  • Represent the college professionally to students and community.

Position Description Summary/Purpose :

This instructor position is an excitingopportunity in Goodwin University's growing Manufacturing Programto share your Welding knowledge by preparing the next generationworkforce.

We are seeking a Welding Instructor with at least 5-yearshands-on experience, plus 3 years supervisory and/or prior teachingexperience. In lieu of teaching experience, extensiveexperience with mentoring or training will be stronglyconsidered.

COMPETENCIES:
  • 5 years welding experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints

  • Ability to work with students on complex weldingprocedures
  • CWI certification is a plus

MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT:
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Weld (TIG)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG)
  • Flux Core Welding
  • Plasma Cutting Procedures
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Possess necessary skills to organize and develop relevantcurriculum and teach/evaluate student performance. Delivery ofduties may include early mornings, evenings, and occasionallyweekends.
  • Regularly engage in professional development activities, suchas internal and external workshops, and trade related conferences,staying abreast of technological advances.
  • Represent the college in a professional, positive manner withprospective, former, and current students, staff, faculty,administrators, and community contacts.
  • Possess the ability to demonstrate respect for and sensitivityto a diverse student population.
  • Possess ability to develop, organize, and present variouscurriculum concepts to a wide diversity of students.
  • Establish and maintain positive personal/professional workingrelationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, andall community contacts.
  • Possess ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty/departmentmeetings unless excused by the Program Director,
  • Assist program students in advising and registration.
  • Keep attendance records on all students to comply with federalfinancial aid guidelines.
  • Keep accurate inventories of all equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of retention andrecruiting strategies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent in subject matter area(Preferred) or Bachelor's degree and teaching experience with atleast 5 years' experience in industry preferred.
  • Industry experience in a manufacturing position with multipledisciplines, which include shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) Gastungsten arc Weld (TIG) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Fluxcore welding process.
