Job summary

The County College of Morris Foundation is seeking an experienced educator to create and teach courses in welding technology. The ideal candidate will have at least an AS or AAS degree or relevant certifications, along with 2+ years of journeyman-level welding experience.

The instructor will be responsible for providing hands-on instruction, assessing student needs, and ensuring alignment with industry standards. Flexibility in teaching hours, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum AS or AAS degree or industry relevant certification(s) with strong work history.
  • 2+ years of full-time, paid journeyman level experience as a welder.
  • Experience delivering training or teaching to adult learners.

Responsibilities

  • Create and teach courses in welding subject matter expertise.
  • Assess students' instructional requirements and provide guidance in welding technology.
  • Instruct students in safety procedures and industry protocols.

Job description

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include creating and teaching courses in your area of subject matter expertise. Class schedules may include day, evening, or weekends.

  • Provide instruction to students in the diverse areas of welding, i.e. FCAW, MIG, TIG, Stick, brazing, flame cutting and plastic welding, hand and semi-automatic and automatic welding processes.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills in an entry-level position or apprenticeship.
  • Assess the instructional requirements of students and provide orientation and instruction in welding technology career and technical education related competencies.
  • Ensures that industry standards are incorporated into the educational program.
  • Provides training in the proper use of tools and equipment related to the welding industry; instructs students in all related safety procedures and industry protocols.
Qualifications
Education

Minimum AS or AAS degree or industry relevant certification(s) such as journeyman or AWS credentials, with a strong work history and demonstrated subject matter expertise. Professional designations or certifications in subject matter desired.

Experience
  • 2+ years of full-time, paid journeyman level experience as a welder.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of current industry practice.
  • Experience delivering training/teaching to adult learners (including corporate training).
  • AWS Certification preferred.
Skills
  • Prefer prior post-secondary classroom teaching experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
