Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience in welding and fabrication.
• Teaching, mentoring or workforce development preferred.
• Ability to read welding drawings, blueprints and procedures.
• Knowledge of welding processes SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and PPE use.
• AWS certifications or equivalent credentials preferred.

Primary Function of Position:We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Welding Adjunct Instructor to teach welding courses for both hobbyists and individuals pursuing welding career development. This course provides instruction in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) - Pipe and Plate, and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW). The instructor will assess student skill levels, develop individualized learning plans, provide hands-on training, and ensure safe operation of welding equipment in a shop environment.

Essential Job Functions:

• Instruct students in welding theory, safety procedures, and hands-on welding techniques.
• Teach and demonstrate SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG) Pipe/Plate, and FCAW welding processes.
• Evaluate student skill levels and develop individualized learning plans to support student goals.
• Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervised practice in a shop environment.
• Promote and enforce proper safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain classroom and welding lab equipment in accordance with safety and operational guidelines.
• Assesses student progress and provides constructive feedback.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Extensive hands-on experience in the welding and fabrication industry.
• Previous teaching, training, mentoring, apprenticeship, or workforce development experience preferred.
• Strong communication and instructional skills.
• Thorough knowledge of welding processes, including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW.
• Ability to read and interpret welding drawings, blueprints, and welding procedure specifications.
• Knowledge of welding metallurgy, welding inspection practices, and industry standards.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and welding industry best practices.
• Ability to demonstrate proper use of welding equipment, tools, cutting equipment, and measuring instruments.
• AWS certifications or equivalent industry credentials preferred.
• Ability to work with students of varying experience levels, from hobbyists to career-focused learners.

Working Conditions:

Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting. The environment will be a classroom and a welding shop environment. Ability to lift 10-25 lbs. Concentrated visual effort is required. Extensive communication with internal and external customers. Exposure to welding sparks, fumes, heat, and shop equipment while maintaining appropriate safety standards. Organizational Relationship:

Adjunct instructor reports to the Director of Workforce and Economic Development. Not full-time permanent employment. Instructs in approved classes as needed.

Schedule:

Varies depending on approved course offerings. Classes will be in the evening, 6-9 PM, 2 nights a week.
