Job summary

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College invites applications for an adjunct Welding Instructor. The candidate will deliver welding coursework and assess student outcomes, under the supervision of the Program/Division Chair and Academic Dean.

Required: A.A.S. in Welding, 5 years related experience (3+ welding), AWS certification or equivalent, and knowledge of welding safety codes. Proficiency with computers and record-keeping; ability to conduct welder qualification tests may be involved.

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ welding/inspection experience with at least 3 years welding.
  • AWS certification or equivalent welding credential required.
  • Familiarity with welding codes for inspection and qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver welding course content to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Engage students actively and provide timely feedback.
  • Follow syllabus and course guidance.
  • Collaborate with college support services to address student needs.
  • Utilize college tech (LMS, email, SIS) for instruction and administration.
  • Meet deadlines for records and requests.
  • Ensure labs are stocked and equipment safe.

Position Summary::

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is currently seeking a knowledgeable and passionate adjunct Welding Instructor to join our team. As an adjunct Welding Instructor, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and inspire students in the field of welding.
An adjunct faculty member is under the management of the Program/Division Chair and supervised by the Academic Dean.

Required Education/Experience::
  • A.A.S. degree in Welding
  • 5 years’ work experience as a welder or a combination as a welder and inspector that totals 5 years with at least 3 as a welder.
  • AWS Certified welding inspector; Certified Welding Educator; Or must hold an AWS Certification Credential
  • Former qualified welder in FCAW or GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW pipe. Able to use welding codes for inspection and welding certification; capable of performing welder qualification (certification); theory of welding processes.
  • Knowledge of welding safety as required by AWS Z49.1 safety manual.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy; basic electrical knowledge; fabrication experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::
  • Proficient with computers, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Proficient in keeping records on students.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to pass a welder qualification test on pipe with SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW in house.
  • Demonstrate cutting skills; some heavy lifting is required. As part of the job, you will be required to perform welder qualification for students that complete a semester without charge.
