Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Vermont is seeking a Patient Access Representative for the Emergency Department. This full-time daytime role includes every other weekend and centers on efficient registration, co-pay collection, and patient navigation of the process.

You will help patients access care, work within the EHR system, and ensure confidentiality while delivering a welcoming experience in a fast-paced setting in the Burlington area.

Qualifications

• Education: High school degree or equivalent; associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience: 1-3 years related work; computer systems experience required (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
• Skills: ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; accurate data entry and decision making.
• Preferred: bilingual written and verbal communication; familiarity with EHR software.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients and explains the registration process; answers questions.
• Processes co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles and balances; reconciles cash drawer.
• Completes Medicare Questionnaire and adjusts coverage; obtains signatures on forms.
• Schedule and reschedule appointments; verify demographic and insurance data.
• Maintain confidentiality and secure patient information; monitor waiting areas.
• Assist with pre-registration and verify real-time insurance eligibility.
