Job summary

Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME seeks a Security Officer to patrol campus on foot, bicycle, or security vehicle, ensuring a safe environment for students, staff and visitors. The role includes locking/unlocking buildings, inspecting alarms, and reporting hazards.

Training is provided with ongoing deescalation and security education opportunities. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a valid license, and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet College policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily patrols and walkthroughs of campus buildings and grounds, including locking/unlocking and inspecting alarm systems.
• Monitor condition of buildings, identify hazards, and report unsafe conditions.
• Investigate incidents, crimes, and complaints and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Operate Campus Security Communications Center and coordinate responses via radio or other means.
• Maintain detailed records of incidents, activities, and communications.
• Complete training programs and participate in ongoing security education.
