Job summary

Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, is seeking a Security Officer dedicated to protecting students, staff and visitors. You will conduct interior and exterior patrols, respond to incidents, monitor parking, and collaborate with campus departments while maintaining calm leadership during emergencies.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, a valid driver’s license, and a background check. CPR/First Aid, BBP training, and OSH A compliance are anticipated; strong communication and customer service

Qualifications

Experience in Safety or Security or closely related field.
High School Diploma or equivalent required; secondary education preferred.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
Valid Driver's License and clear criminal background check.
CPR/First Aid, AED certification (or complete within 30 days of hire).
OSH A Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) training required or offered on hire.

Responsibilities

Conduct interior and exterior patrols of campus buildings and grounds.
Respond to and investigate safety and security incidents.
Monitor parking compliance and issue citations as needed.
Collaborate with campus staff or departments as needed.
Attend mandatory department staff meetings and campus events requiring security.
Notify Directors of Safety and Security and College administration of emergencies or threats.
