Job summary

Standard Heating & Air Conditioning in Minneapolis, MN seeks a full-time accounting professional to manage day-to-day bookkeeping and report to the Controller. The role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, expertise in QuickBooks and Excel, and the ability to handle payroll, A/P, A/R, and close processes.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in accounting or finance required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Advanced Excel and QuickBooks knowledge required.
• Experience with payroll processing, A/P, A/R, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• High integrity and strict confidentiality.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Effective time management and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure monthly, quarterly and year end close happens accurately and on time.
• Follow federal, state and local requirements; file reports and advise management on actions.
• Maintain a coherent system of accounts and files.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements.
• Prepare general ledger entries and reconcile accounts.
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and other assigned accounts.
• Perform daily cash management and deposits, posting cash payments.
• Post customer payments to QuickBooks timely and accurately.
• Process A/P transactions and submit payments on time.
• Process bi-weekly payroll.
• Create and balance A/R aging and monitor receivables.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare, file and pay monthly sales and use taxes.
• Assist with year-end audits and tax preparations.
• Act as backup for Accounting Administrator.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and payroll data.
• All other duties as assigned.
