Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist in Cambridge, MA. You will greet guests, monitor store safety, and respond to incidents using de‑escalation techniques while following AP policies.

This role supports a secure shopping environment and protects guests, team members, and merchandise. The position requires 18+, a high school diploma, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet state/local licensure requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other equipment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work independently and with a team.
• Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests at the front of store.
• Promote a physical security culture for team members and guests throughout the store.
• Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner.
• Address guest issues to maintain a safe environment for team members and guests.
• Use de-escalation tactics when responding to incidents across the store.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support per AP policies.
• Prevent theft by checking receipts and recognizing trends.
• Submit documentation in the case management system following AP policy.
• Understand and use Target's video surveillance system.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Work safely; comply with safety policies and training; report hazards.
