Job summary

Affirm is redefining credit with a remote-first engineering culture. As Engineering Manager for the Consumer team, you will lead a cross-functional group across mobile apps, web experiences, and future consumer surfaces, shaping how millions of users experience Affirm.

You will own the team’s technical strategy, drive major experience initiatives, and mentor engineers toward the next level, while ensuring reliability and performance of consumer-critical systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years managing and growing engineering teams.
• Experience delivering consumer-facing software in ambiguous environments.
• Familiar with modern full‑stack development including React/React Native and a backend-for-frontend.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a well-balanced team of engineers – set clear expectations, give feedback, and develop each engineer toward the next level.
• Own the team’s technical strategy and multi-quarter roadmap, tying it to large experience initiatives.
• Empower tech leads and engineers to uphold design and quality with hands-on support in design and cross-functional alignment.
• Own availability, reliability, and performance of consumer-critical systems – on-call, incident response, and reducing toil.
• Drive alignment across multiple teams and influence roadmaps for partner experience and foundational teams.
• Partner with Product, Design, Analytics, and other Engineering teams to build trust and drive cross-functional outcomes.
