Job summary

Affirm seeks an Engineering Manager for the Consumer team to lead front-end initiatives across iOS, Android, and Web, guiding a balanced team and shaping a multi-quarter roadmap while ensuring reliability of consumer-facing systems.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, Analytics, and other engineering teams to deliver scalable experiences, empower engineers, and drive architectural decisions in a high-trust culture.

Qualifications

• 7+ years software engineering experience with 3+ years in management.
• Experience delivering consumer-facing software and driving execution through ambiguity.
• Technical judgment to guide architecture, quality, and reliability, empowering senior engineers.
• Led significant technical initiatives end-to-end, ideally decoupling or re-platforming consumer-facing systems.
• Familiar with modern full-stack development – React/React Native and a backend-for-frontend.
• Calm, decisive leadership through change and ambiguity, building alignment.
• Humidle, team-first leader building a high-trust culture; growth-minded.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills balancing customer, business, and technical constraints.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational influence.
• Proven ability to build alignment and drive outcomes without direct authority.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a balanced team of engineers with clear expectations and growth paths.
• Own the team's technical strategy and multi-quarter roadmap tied to major experience initiatives.
• Mentor tech leads and engineers, guiding design quality and cross-functional alignment.
• Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of consumer-critical systems; manage on-call and incidents.
• Drive alignment across organizations and influence partner experience roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Analytics, and other Engineering teams to build trust.
