Job summary

OSF HealthCare, located in Illinois, is seeking a Front Office Assistant to deliver exceptional patient-facing service. You will greet patients, handle front desk duties, schedule and register visits, and coordinate with providers, staff and insurance to ensure smooth admission and care.

You will also collect co-pays, process incoming calls, and maintain accurate records while upholding OSF’s patient-first standards and professional office environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED equivalent.
• Customer service experience required.
• Typing, filing, and telephone skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families in person and over the phone.
• Schedule and register appointments and procedures.
• Work with insurance to determine benefits and obtain prior- authorizations.
• Assist with co-pay collection and patient communications.

Expected pay for this position is $17.66 - $19.63/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Front Office Assistant provides exceptional customer services throughout their interaction with patients, families and their support systems. They are the face of the office and their interaction with the patient/family is important in creating a patient-first environment. This creates an excellent first impression of OSF’s services to patients, families and other external customers over the phone or in person. Performs a variety of reception/clerical duties in a medical practice front office and adheres to department guidelines for scheduling and registration. Works collaboratively with patients, providers, office staff and insurance companies to ensure that patient needs are met. Communicates with insurance companies to determine patient benefits, completes prior-authorizations, and is responsible for incoming and outgoing patient calls, co-pay collection, appointment and procedure scheduling for patients.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School or GED equivalent
• Customer service experience
• Typing, filing, telephone skills
• Basic Microsoft application proficiency
• Excellent Customer Service skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes
• Electronic Medical Record experience
