Job summary

Meijer Great Lakes is seeking a Loss Prevention Associate to help protect customers, associates and assets within our Michigan stores. The role emphasizes visible presence, rapid response to alerts, and effective communication with customers to prevent theft and ensure safety.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1–2 years in customer service or asset protection, with the ability to move throughout the store, learn new tech, and handle conflicts professionally.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of customer service or asset protection experience.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to move actively throughout the work area for long periods.
• Ability to respond to alerts quickly and urgently.
• Ability to learn and use new technology solutions.
• Ability to document and communicate incidents.
• Ability to apply negotiation and de-escalation techniques.
• Knowledge of product locations to direct customers.
• Ability to work well with others in conflict situations.

Responsibilities

• Actively identify and resolve unsafe conditions and situations.
• Prevent theft through an active presence and engagement with customers.
• Respond to alerts urgently to check receipts and recover unpaid merchandise.
• Reduce store disruption using de-escalation techniques.
• Document and communicate theft, safety, and alarm incidents.
