Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Derby, KS is seeking a friendly, customer-focused cashier to deliver outstanding service at the checkout. You will greet customers, process transactions quickly and accurately, and help maintain a clean, safe store environment.

You will work with the POS system, handle cash, checks, and various payment methods, follow loss prevention guidelines, and support the store team in meeting local regulations and customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle tenders (cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, loyalty offers, coupons) per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits, loss prevention, and correct shoplifting/loss control procedures.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs) and report pricing discrepancies.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons; stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and identify unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report any needed repairs to the appropriate department or store management.
• Provide helpful product information to customers across departments and store-wide.
• Follow all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment and manage conflicts professionally.
• Demonstrate honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
