Job summary

Kroger Co. is seeking a friendly, customer-oriented individual to assist customers, operate the checkout quickly and accurately, and follow store policies. The role requires attentiveness to pricing, safety, and product knowledge to ensure a positive shopping experience.

This part-time position offers opportunities to engage with the community, work in a fast-paced team, and develop skills in sales, POS operation, and customer service within a leading U.S. grocery retailer.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system, and handle tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures per policy.
• Adhere to limits on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; participate in preventive equipment maintenance.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and informed about products.
