Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Front End Associate to provide fast, friendly service at the register and throughout the front end. You will greet customers, handle transactions, and help maintain a clean, efficient shopping environment.

The role requires strong communication, multitasking and cash-handling abilities, with adherence to store policies and safety guidelines. Training is provided, and the position supports store operations across the front end.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and use his or her name whenever possible.
• Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt and group items for easier bagging.
• Check the bottom of every cart and under baby seats for items before completing an order.
• Follow correct bagging procedures and proper use of bags by type.
• Scan orders and handle the payment transaction per standard practice.
• Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take the customer's order to their car.
• Maintain a neat and clean presentation of the front end area and work station.
• Report any register malfunction to the Customer Service Manager or MOD.
• Ensure MVP savings center KIOSK is filled with paper and functioning properly.
