Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System is seeking an Office Assistant for the Clinic to support daily administrative operations in Hermiston, OR. You will manage patient registration, scheduling, and documentation in Epic, while delivering friendly service in person and by phone.

The role requires accuracy in data entry, insurance verification, and chart preparation, with flexibility for evenings or extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in customer service or administrative support.
• Basic experience with computers, phone systems, and data entry.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems (Epic preferred).

Responsibilities

• Accurately collects and enters patient demographics, insurance, and contact information into Epic at check-in or pre-registration.
• Schedules, cancels, and reschedules patient appointments per protocol, in person or by phone.
• Prepares patient charts and verifies insurance eligibility; ensures records are complete and up to date.
• Scans and indexes documents into the electronic health record to maintain current charts.
• Answers calls and greets patients with professionalism; documents and routes messages promptly.
• Records no-shows in Epic and follows up as needed.
• Delivers excellent customer service following AIDET guidelines to create a welcoming environment.
• Supports front office team with check-in/out, scheduling, and other duties as assigned.
• Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA and clinic policies; supports mission and values.
• May work extended hours, evenings, weekends, or holidays based on clinic needs.
