Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System is hiring a Front Office Assistant in Hermiston, OR. The role supports daily clinic operations, patient check-in, scheduling, and documentation in Epic.

You will be the first point of contact, delivering courteous service in person and by phone while maintaining accurate records. Responsibilities include patient registration, insurance verification, chart preparation, scanning, and messaging.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; copy of diploma/GED required at hire.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in customer service or administrative support.
• Preferred: Experience in a medical clinic and familiarity with EMR systems (Epic preferred).
• Other: CPR may be required per clinic policy.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect accurate demographic, insurance, and contact information in Epic.
• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule appointments per protocol with professional communication.
• Prepare charts, verify insurance eligibility, and ensure referrals and forms are complete.
• Scan and index documents into the health record; maintain current patient charts.
• Answer calls, greet patients, and document messages for provider follow-up.
• Document no-shows and follow up per clinic procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service following AIDET guidelines.
• Support front office with check-in/out, scheduling, and other duties as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; support hospital policies.
