Job summary

The Ion Center for Violence Prevention in Kentucky is seeking a compassionate Front Desk/Program Assistant to greet clients, answer calls, assess needs, and connect people with services. This role supports trauma-informed programs and provides administrative help.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention support, data entry, coordinating with community partners, and assisting with advocacy and referrals.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care.
  • Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis-oriented situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Complete trainings for funding requirements and knowledge building.
  • Must be minimum age of 18.

Job description

The Ion Center for Violence Prevention is a non-profit agency serving 13 Kentucky counties with an important mission: providing the best care of people who have been impacted by power-based personal violence and measurably reducing the number of people who have been hurt by it. The Ion Center's identity shines in everything we do such as preventION, compassION, protectION, interventION, collaboratION, and transformatION. All services provided to victim-survivors are free and confidential.

The Ion Center is looking for a compassionate individual that serves as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and community members seeking support from the Ion Center.

Front Desk/Program Assistant

Creates a welcoming, trauma-informed environment by greeting clients, answering phones, assessing immediate needs, and connecting individuals with appropriate services and resources. JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates access for victims through answering the hotline and for individuals who walk-into Ion Center office locations, and ensure appropriate connections are made. Maintains a trauma informed environment. Provides administrative support to direct service programs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Applies ZeroV Program Member Service Standards and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) Standards for survivors of rape.
Crisis Intervention
  • Answers multi-line phone system, crisis text line, and TDD
  • Engage with clients at initial entry to the office
  • Assess and identify client needs, connect according with services.
  • Provide trauma informed individual and group services
  • Provide referrals and connect clients with community resources.
  • Assist clients with completing agency paperwork.
  • Aide clients in developing safety plan.
Advocacy
  • Provide support for clients navigating the legal system, including accompanying clients to court, educate on legal system, assisting clients on filing protection orders.
  • Support Ion Center in providing essential services to victims, hotline, and emergency shelter.
  • Collaborate with community partners, law enforcement, medical staff, and social service agencies.
  • Assist clients with crime victim compensation.
  • Transport clients to meet goals.
Administrative Support
  • Enter data in agency database.
  • Manage incoming/outgoing mail
  • Inventory site supplies and order as needed.
  • Assist programs with administrative needs such as copy, type, email, file, and communication.
  • Coordinate property maintenance and service
  • Assist with community coordination
Communication, Teamwork, and Administration Duties
  • Maintain client files and agency documentation.
  • Attend related meetings and trainings.
  • Report stats for funders.
  • Accept and disseminate donations.
  • Contribute to a clean, healthy, and trauma informed work environment.
  • Collaborate as a team across agency sites.
