Job summary

The Ion Center for Violence Prevention in Newport, KY seeks a Crisis Intervention Specialist for the 3rd shift to provide crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy for survivor-victims in our shelter. You will support intake, safety planning, and linkage to community resources while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities include counseling, team collaboration, documentation, and coordination with partners to ensure comprehensive services.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Intake and assessment: maintain confidentiality, field crisis calls/texts, assess needs, connect to resources, assist with paperwork, develop safety plans.
• Counseling and case management: provide trauma-informed counseling, educate survivors on relevant topics, support goals related to benefits, childcare, education, budget, and housing; transport clients as needed.
• Advocacy: assist clients navigating the legal system, hospital advocacy on call, collaborate with partners and agencies, assist with crime victim compensation.
• Documentation and team duties: maintain files, attend trainings, report statistics, disseminate donations, support a trauma-informed work environment, collaborate across sites.

The Ion Center is looking for compassionate individuals that will support and serve victim-survivors residing in our Northern Kentucky shelter, ensuring that we are providing the best care and most welcome environment for them. Residential Crisis Intervention Specialists play a key role in the services we provide through case management leading group sessions, maintaining facility cleanliness, answering hotline calls, data entry, and addressing other needs as they arise. The Residential Crisis Intervention Specialist (3rd Shift) works 4 days each week from either 9pm-7am or 10pm-8pm, depending on agency needs.

JOB SUMMARY :

Under the supervision of the Site and Program Management, provides full range of crisis intervention and case management services to primary and secondary survivors of crime, with a special focus on victims of partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking, assisting victims to work towards safety and self-sufficiency.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Intake and Assessment.

• 1.1 Maintain client confidentiality
• 1.2 Field crisis hotline calls, texts, and chat.
• 1.3 Assess and identify client needs.
• 1.4 Provide and connect clients with community resources.
• 1.5 Assist clients with completing agency paperwork.
• 1.6 Aide clients in developing safety plans.

Counseling and Case Management

• 2.1 Provide trauma informed individual/ family and or group counseling.
• 2.2 Educate survivors on topics relevant to partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking.
• 2.3 Identifying client individual goals relevant to benefits, childcare, education, budget, and housing needs.
• 2.4 Transport clients to meet goals.

Advocacy

• 3.1 Provide support for clients as they navigate the legal system, including accompanying clients to court, educate on legal system, assisting clients on filing protection orders.
• 3.2 Support Ion Center in providing essential services to victims, including hospital advocacy on call, hotline, and emergency shelter.
• 3.3 Collaborate with community partners, law enforcement, medical staff, and social service agencies.
• 3.4 Assist clients with crime victim compensation.

Communication, Teamwork, and Administration Duties

• 4.1 Maintain client files and documentation.
• 4.2 Attend related meetings and trainings.
• 4.3 Report stats for funders.
• 4.4 Accept and disseminate donations.
• 4.5 Contribute to a clean, healthy, and trauma informed work environment.
• 4.6 Collaborate as a team across agency sites.
