Job summary

American Family Fitness in Williamsburg, VA seeks a Front Desk Manager to supervise receptionist duties, hire and train staff, and maintain proactive, jovial customer service while scheduling coverage for the club.

You will ensure clear communication of promotions and events across departments, handle daily deposits, and uphold professional standards and the company mission. Organize zones, train staff, and manage performance with regular reviews.

Responsibilities

• Organize "zones" for specific tasks and appoint a receptionist/attendant to each zone to maintain efficiency at the front desk.
• Schedule staff to provide coverage and submit to the Assistant GM by the 24th of each month; manage overtime with management approval.
• Reconcile end-of-month paperwork and submit to corporate: tanning, massage, gift certificates, petty cash totals.
• Complete daysheets and daily club and cafe deposits.
• Respond promptly to members' concerns or comments from the suggestion box related to the front desk.
• Attend department head meetings and inform staff of developments and upcoming events within the club.
• Ensure front desk staff meet club manager expectations.
• Hold regular department meetings for training and information sharing; submit minutes to GM/Assistant Manager.
• Recruit, hire, and train staff; complete new hire paperwork and submit to corporate before scheduling.
• Maintain current personnel records and complete Personnel Action forms as appropriate.
• Schedule orientation for each new employee with the Assistant GM.
• Use disciplinary action when necessary and document such actions; terminate substandard employees.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate front desk staff goals regularly.
• Provide ongoing feedback on performance and conduct yearly reviews for each staff member.
• Communicate effectively with all department heads and management staff; uphold proper chain of command.
• Set a professional example and deliver exceptional customer service for all staff members.
• Recite mission statement and ensure staff continually support the company's mission and corporate vision.
