Job summary

Sherman Associates is seeking an entry-level, part-time front desk/retail assistant for the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Downtown Des Moines. You will greet guests, process registrations, and assist with retail services while helping maintain a clean, welcoming environment.

Strong customer service and basic computer skills are desired. Must be able to work a schedule including weekdays and weekends; background check may be required. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a public contact position.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Customer service experience in hospitality preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge including Word, Excel, Outlook & Internet.
• Support Sherman Associates' mission, vision, and values.
• Office hours may vary due to hotel needs.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests on arrival.
• Register and book guests, verify reservation details.
• Operate kiosk to assist guests when needed.
• Answer inbound calls professionally.
• Know hotel facilities and the local area.
• Process payments at check-in and checkout.
• Maintain house bank and deposit reports daily.
• Restock and keep Retail area clean.
• Handle luggage claims and assist guests with luggage.
• Ensure the hotel looks and feels clean and well-maintained.
• Address guest complaints promptly and professionally.
• Complete any additional duties as assigned.
