Job summary

Paycom is seeking a friendly and organized front desk/medical office receptionist to be the first point of contact for patients. You will greet callers and in-office patients, collect demographics and insurance data, and coordinate scheduling using the EMR system while matching clinician availability to patient needs.

The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and professional interaction with patients and staff, with some travel between locations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced medical office is expected.
  • Ability to use an EMR system and multi-line phone system.

Responsibilities

  • Greet callers and in-office patients warmly and provide courteous service.
  • Be the first point of contact for patients at our practice.
  • Schedule and update patient appointments, entering demographics and insurance information.
  • Confirm, cancel, reschedule, and update appointments as requested.
  • Use EMR to match clinician availability with patient needs and preferences.
  • Schedule accurately according to clinic guidelines; keep records up to date.
  • Communicate with providers and staff about patient concerns; consult office manager on system issues.
  • Complete requests from other medical offices (faxing records, etc.).
  • Address patient concerns efficiently and effectively; maintain professional demeanor.
  • Perform other clerical duties as assigned; some travel between locations.

Job description

1. Greet callers and in-office patients warmly and provide courteous service.2. Understand the responsibility of serving as the first point of contact for patients at our practice.3. Use sound judgement in handling calls and in-person interactions, especially when dealing with highly sensitive medical information.4. Answers calls within three-four rings.5. When scheduling patients and/or checking a patient in, be sure to add and update demographics and insurance information for that individual thoroughly and accurately.6. Confirm, cancel, reschedule, and update patient appointments at request of patient and/or provider.7. Use the EMR system to match physician/clinician availability with the patient's needs and preferences in terms of date and time.8. Able to accurately schedule appointments based on clinic and practice guidelines and specifications.9. Maintain and regularly update scheduling systems so patient records are accurate and complete and can be used to analyze patient/staffing needs and patterns.10. Communicates as needed with providers and other staff about any patient concerns/issues. Consults with the office manager about any system problems.11. Effectively communicate and complete requests from other medical offices (faxing patient medical records, or other information as requested).12. Address patient concerns efficiently and effectively.13. Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.14. Other clerical duties as assigned by the office manager/administrator.15. Some travel required between multiple locations.Skills/Abilities1.
