JOB FUNCTION:Present a positive and pleasant atmosphere. Maintains a cheerful and smiling demeanor at all times at the front desk. Greets, patients and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner. Serves as the liaison between the patient, medical support staff and the providers. Responsible to collect and verify all patient demographic and insurance data, which is needed for proper billing and ultimate collection of each account. Demonstrate a positive interpersonal relationship when dealing with fellow employees, supervisors, other department employees and physicians.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Check patients in and out of clinic; verifying that all insurance information is correct. Scan all pertinent information and insurance cards into computer system. Inform patients of all financial arrangements. Schedule appointments for patients returning to clinic and walk up patients.Responsible for all monies received to include change fund and post the daily deposit. Collect appropriate co-payments, payment authorizations, and outstanding balances. Calculates daily charges and applicable discounts for self- pay patients and collects appropriate amounts. Collect payments and paperwork for FMLA/disability paperwork and entering document in specific patients chart.Collect all superbills for each day, accounting for all patients seen, verify correct charges and payments entered. Deliver all records for the day to the accounting department, including superbills, payments, credit card and check print outs, etc.Preparing charts for each days clinics. Ensuring that all necessary paperwork for the next day’s appointments has been completed.Any and all duties, as assigned.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain an orderly and neat work area and reception area. Keep desk fully stocked and order supplies in advance to provide the highest quality copies are used.Maintain strict patient confidentiality and ensure that each patient has current HIPAA privacy information and has signed acknowledgement forms on file.Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the waiting room, making coffee as needed, cleaning coffee pots at end of day.Any and all duties, as assigned.Experience and Education Requirement:Must have 6 months – 1 year experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)Advanced level of computer skills required; including knowledge of (software) Windows, Practice Management, and Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.Must be able to project a professional, pleasant image while interacting with a variety of personalities and cultures. Must demonstrate tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Should have strong communication and customer service skills and respect for confidentiality. Must have the ability to plan, prioritize and complete tasks under stress with frequent interruptions.
