General Summary
As the first point of contact for patients arriving at UCAs clinics, the Medical Front Desk Clerk will greet and assist patients with check‑in at kiosks, collection of necessary documents, inputting information into the EMR system, preparing files for office visits, and notifying physicians or nurses that patients are ready to be taken back. Upon conclusion of service, the clerk schedules follow‑up appointments and communicates instructions for additional services.
Essential Functions
- Greet patients and family members or caregivers at check‑in and answer questions regarding UCA’s check‑in process.
- Provide support to complete the check‑in process, including assisting patients with kiosks, collecting documents relevant to the visit, insurance cards, and co‑pay or deductible information.
- Act as a patient escort when needed, assisting patients to ingress or egress the facility or to the UCA exam room.
- Prepare patient files for visits, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
- Maintain contact with the secretary, nurse, and/or physician to confirm that patients have arrived and are ready for services.
- Perform checkout functions through the EMR system.
- Schedule patient follow‑up appointments according to physician schedules.
- Provide patients with instructions for imaging and/or other services and appointments.
- Collect, organize, and disburse superbills.
- Attend organizational or departmental meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with individuals from all walks of life, both internally and externally to UCA, across educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Work independently or within a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient with office equipment, including a PC, Windows, MS Office, EMR systems, multi‑line telephones, copiers, and facsimile machines.
- Maintain confidentiality, strictly adhering to HIPAA and UCA guidelines.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in healthcare or a physician clinic setting.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.

None.
Supervisory Requirements
This position will not supervise any other staff members.
