Job summary

Smart Foodservice Stores is seeking a Produce Inspector to ensure quality from supplier to customer in our Sacramento facility. You will inspect inbound perishable loads and inventory, decide on accept/reject, and maintain records in compliance with PACA and USDA standards.

Role requires 2+ years in produce inspection, ability to lift 50 lbs, and a willingness to learn. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a US Foods Produce Inspector Course completion within 60 days is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Min 2 years experience in produce or other perishable receiving and inspection required.
• Working knowledge of USDA Specs, Grades and Standards.
• Working knowledge of PACA laws required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications.
• Completion of US Foods Produce Inspector Course (within 60 days of hire).
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
• Team-player - flexible and willing to learn new things and adapt as the business evolves.

Responsibilities

• Ensure produce quality from supplier to customers meets US Foods specifications.
• Perform daily inspections of all incoming fresh produce deliveries and inventory.
• Make decisions to accept or reject produce and document PACA-compliant actions.
• Withdraw non-conforming produce from inventory.
• Maintain inspection records and address food safety concerns with warehouse management.
• Collaborate on dumps, damages and re-work decisions with replenishment lead.
• Communicate daily with the replenishment lead and warehouse manager.
