Sprouts Farmers Market in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a Deli Clerk to assist customers and prepare fresh meals in a fast-paced deli. You will operate slicers, wrap and label items, and maintain cleanliness and safety in the department.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and grocery/food service experience.
• Be dependable and reliable across shifts.
• Have an outgoing, friendly demeanor and positive attitude with customers.
• Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction in a team.
• Able to answer phones and take special orders.
• Capable of lifting/carrying up to 70 lbs. for up to 4 hours of a shift.
• Able to stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Perform general housekeeping and keep the deli area clean and sanitary.
• Operate deli equipment such as slicers and wrapping/cooking tools safely.
• Follow safety, health, and regulatory requirements including Food Handler permits.
• Work in coolers and freezers and in varying temperatures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in choosing healthy options and prepare fresh meals.
• Provide high level of customer service and ensure deli items are prepared, packaged and presented cleanly.
• Fill, rotate, and maintain product displays.
• Prepare special orders and party trays.
• Operate slicers, ovens, microwaves, and other deli equipment safely.
• Maintain a clean, safe deli area and equipment; sweep and sanitize surfaces.
• Receive and log products ensuring correct temperature and quality.
