Job summary

Employment & Training Centers, Inc. in the Houston area seeks an Operations Specialist with freight forwarding experience to coordinate international and domestic shipments from booking through final delivery.

This 100% onsite, full-time role requires you to communicate with customers and service providers, prepare and review shipping documents, track shipments, and resolve day-to-day operational issues while ensuring compliance with import/export procedures.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or import/export operations.
• Experience coordinating international shipments preferred.
• Working knowledge of ocean and air freight operations.
• Familiarity with import/export documentation and Incoterms.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple active shipments and priorities.
• Customer service and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfort communicating with customers, carriers, warehouses, and customs brokers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Spanish is preferred.
• Mandarin Chinese is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean, air, and ground import/export shipments from booking through final delivery.
• Prepare, review, and maintain import/export and shipping documentation.
• Track shipments and provide timely status updates to customers.
• Coordinate with ocean carriers, airlines, trucking companies, warehouses, customs brokers, and other service providers.
• Assist with customs-related documentation and shipment clearance coordination.
• Communicate with customers regarding shipment status and documentation needs.
• Identify and resolve delays, documentation issues, scheduling problems, and other operational exceptions.
• Coordinate pickup, drayage, and warehouse activities as required.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and operational reports.
• Support compliance with import/export procedures and requirements.
• Work with internal teams to ensure shipments are handled accurately and on schedule.
