If you’ve been the first recruiter at a startup and enjoy working directly with founders, you’ll own hiring end-to-end and help shape the team, process, and culture as the company scales. This hybrid role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution, offering a competitive

Qualifications

• Experience as a founding or first recruiter at a seed or Series A startup.
• Proven track record of closing senior software or AI engineers.
• Experience partnering directly with founders or executive leaders on hiring.
• Experience running technical and non-technical searches at the same time.
• Confident sourcing across a range of platforms, with a focus on quality and long-term fit.
• Based in the US and able to travel to San Francisco regularly.

Responsibilities

• Partnering directly with founders to set hiring priorities, define roles and run the process.
• Managing full-cycle recruitment, from sourcing and screening through to offer and close.
• Leading hiring for senior software and AI engineers, alongside product, go-to-market and support roles.
• Building the hiring process from scratch: interview structure, scorecards and candidate experience.
• Using data to track progress and inform decisions at every step.
