Job summary

Chapter 2 is building the hiring function for an early-stage AI company from day one. You’ll work side by side with founders, own hiring end to end, and lead technical recruitment across engineering, product, and go‑to‑market teams.

The role focuses on creating the team, refining processes, and shaping a hiring culture that scales with the company’s growth. Hybrid work is available in San Francisco and the US.

Qualifications

• Experience as a founding or first recruiter at a seed or Series A startup.
• Track record of closing senior software or AI engineers.
• Experience partnering directly with founders or executive leaders on hiring.
• Experience running technical and non-technical searches simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Partner with founders to set hiring priorities, define roles and run the process.
• Manage full-cycle recruitment from sourcing to offer and close.
• Lead hiring for senior software and AI engineers, plus product, GTM and support roles.
• Build the hiring process from scratch: interview structure, scorecards, candidate experience.
