Job summary

PEN America, a nonprofit at the intersection of literature and human rights, seeks a manager of Foundation Relations and Grants to join its Development team in New York City. You will own a fast-moving portfolio of grants, handle record-keeping, writing, budgets, and funder research, while supporting deadlines and collaboration across internal teams.

This full-time, union-eligible role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of foundation/grants experience, with occasional nights

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of foundations and grants experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication with editing experience.
• Excellent organizational and process management skills with attention to detail.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate.
• Willing to work nights and weekends with supervisor approval.
• Must provide valid U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Manage all stages of the grant lifecycle from outreach to final reporting.
• Research funders and align proposals with program priorities.
• Develop budgets with Finance and ensure timely financial reporting to donors.
• Track grant payments and maintain data in Raiser's Edge.
• Provide portfolio support to the Director and senior manager.
