Job summary

Urban Institute in Washington, DC, seeks a Development Coordinator (Foundation & Corporate Partnerships) to grow its institutional fundraising program. You will help identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward funders, and work with Development and Communications colleagues to coordinate outreach.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 1–2 years in nonprofit development or related internship/volunteer experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) required.
• 1–2 years of fundraising/nonprofit development or related internship/volunteer experience preferred.
• Strong collaboration, written and oral communication, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience a plus but not required.
• Ability to work autonomously, with sound judgment and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward foundations and corporate funders.
• Coordinate funder communications and outreach with Development and Communications teams.
• Support fundraising teams with information management and reporting on revenue pipeline and donor tracking.
• Conduct in-depth prospect research to identify fit with Urban Institute.
• Prepare briefings and strategy memos for leadership and research teams.
• Maintain fundraising activity files in CRM, including notes, proposals, and donor briefs.
• Track donations and coordinate with accounting; draft donor thank-you notes.
