Job summary

Urban Institute is seeking a Development Associate (Individual Fundraising) to support donor engagement, portfolio management, and trustee relations. You will help coordinate solicitation strategies, research donors, and maintain donor records in Salesforce while working closely with senior leadership.

The role offers opportunities to contribute to strategic fundraising initiatives, engage with trustees, and support events and annual campaigns within a collaborative Development team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 3–4 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or stakeholder engagement preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to draft briefing materials and executive communications.
• Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Director of Development in donor engagement and fundraising strategies for priority prospects and donors.
• Conduct prospect research and analysis to inform cultivation, stewardship and solicitation activities.
• Track donor engagement, relationship milestones, and follow‑ups in Salesforce.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for Development leadership; coordinate donor communications and executive correspondence.
• Manage trustee engagement initiatives and support Development Committee priorities.
• Prepare meeting materials, briefing documents, and strategic recommendations for trustees and executives.
• Develop donor profiles, meeting materials, timelines, and engagement plans.
• Coordinate donor meetings and track action plans across departments.
• Assist with events and annual initiatives, including guest selection, invitations, RSVPs, and logistics.
