Job summary

New York Life seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to convert validated product intent and specifications into production-ready software. You will integrate AI-assisted development, collaborate with analysts, and work closely with business teams to deliver high-impact solutions in a hybrid NYC setting.

You will contribute to an AI-enabled software lifecycle, advance architecture patterns, and ensure production readiness while collaborating across product, data, domain, and security teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering or related technical experience.
• Experience with APIs, cloud services, and modern software architectures.
• Ability to work from business intent, not only from predefined tasks.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and production support practices.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted software development tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and iterate software from validated prototypes, PRDs, specifications and architecture patterns.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools for code generation, refactoring, testing, documentation, debugging and planning.
• Translate functional specifications into technical designs, components, APIs, integrations, data access patterns, and production-ready code.
• Partner with Forward Deployed Analysts to refine specifications as learning evolves.
• Work with Product Owners, users and engineers in rapid feedback cycles.
