Job summary

JLL is seeking a Forward Deployed Data Engineer to rapidly design, prototype, and deploy data-driven solutions embedded with product and engineering teams. You will develop AI agents, architect end-to-end data systems, and ensure enterprise-grade reliability and security while maintaining speed in fast-changing environments.

You will work on architecture decisions, prototyping, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver scalable pipelines, APIs, and agentic workflows using modern frameworks,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software or data engineering experience with architecture ownership.
• Experience architecting end-to-end data and AI systems with clear documentation and stakeholder communication.
• Hands-on experience building AI agents, including defining agent skills, tool use, memory, and multi-step reasoning.
• Working knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) and connecting agents with external systems.
• Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or Semantic Kernel.
• Strong hands-on data engineering: pipelines, ETL/ELT, data modeling, SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data stack tooling.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution design for cross-functional data and AI problems from discovery to blueprint.
• Define architecture decisions and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Design scalable, modular systems balancing speed and enterprise standards for reliability and security.
• Create clear technical documentation including data flow maps and API contracts.
• Deliver working prototypes for data and AI problems within compressed timelines, often days to weeks.
• Iterate on solutions based on feedback from product managers, program leads, and end users.
• Design, build, and deploy AI agents and agentic pipelines, with skills, memory, and robust tooling.
• Develop MCP servers/clients to connect AI agents with enterprise tools and data sources.
• Build agent orchestration with LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or Semantic Kernel.
• Establish evaluation harnesses, guardrails, and monitoring for production reliability and safety.
• Stay current with agentic AI trends and contribute new tooling to the team.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to co-define problems and solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices for rapid, high-quality delivery.
