Job summary

TribalScale is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work at the intersection of software engineering, AI, product development, and client delivery. You will embed with client and internal teams to understand complex business problems, rapidly design solutions, and deploy production-quality software in real-world environments.

You will act as a hands-on engineer and trusted technical partner, translating business needs into working products while guiding technology decisions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages used for AI apps and tooling.
• Understanding of harness engineering: infrastructure, context, tools, permissions and feedback.
• Experience with agent loops including planning, tool selection, and execution.

Responsibilities

• Partner with clients to understand objectives, environments, data, and constraints.
• Translate ambiguous challenges into technical requirements and delivery plans.
• Design and build AI-enabled apps, agentic workflows, tools, APIs, data pipelines, and full-stack products.
• Develop harnesses around AI models: prompts, tools, context, memory, permissions, controls, observability.
• Build and refine agent loops supporting planning, tool selection, execution, observation, reflection, and termination.
• Model complex workflows using graphs or state machines coordinating models, tools, data, and approvals.
• Create evaluation frameworks measuring task completion, accuracy, reliability, safety, latency, and cost.
• Prototype rapidly, validate with users, evolve ideas into secure, scalable products.
• Integrate solutions with client systems, data sources, cloud platforms, and third-party services.
• Contribute across the stack: UI, backend, AI infrastructure, data workflows, deployment pipelines.
• Implement safeguards, permissions, approvals, and fallbacks for autonomous systems.
• Instrument AI apps to trace decisions, diagnose failures, and improve performance.
• Address failure modes like hallucinations, context loss, brittle tool calls, and prompt issues.
• Troubleshoot complex technical problems in client environments.
• Communicate decisions, risks, and progress to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, security teams, and stakeholders.
• Establish automated testing, observability, security, and continuous delivery practices.
• Capture reusable patterns and patterns for future engagements.
