Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is hiring a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight in a multimodal terminal or warehouse environment. You will use sit‑down/stand‑up forklifts and other MHE, following safety guidelines and documentation procedures.

The role requires 3+ years of dock experience, a valid forklift certification, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime. Candidates must be able to lift heavy freight and operate scanning tools and freight-tracking systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, up to 75 lbs with assistance.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Experience operating MHE and basic computer systems.
• Ability to read labels, barcodes, and freight documentation.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit‑down/stand‑up forklifts and reach trucks, plus other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight using handheld devices and systems.
