Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight in a multimodal terminal, intermodal yard, warehouse, or dock. This role emphasizes accurate documentation, adherence to safety policies, and teamwork.

Base pay is $19.60 per hour; schedule is Monday–Friday, 11am–7pm, onsite. Experienced operators will mentor new Material Handlers and help resolve on-floor issues while maintaining productivity and freight integrity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, to understand safety and operational instructions.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dock environment.
• Support dock productivity and workflow efficiency.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
